Nelson L. Association Board Meeting Minutes, Aug. 4, 2025

The meeting was opened promptly at 6:30 pm by Pres. Dale NcPherson.
Members present: Rick Lindner, Gordy Christians, Tom LeMay, John Welter, Casey Stangl, Mark Schaenzer, Dale McPherson, Mike Hallum, Glenn Rolloff, Scott Wied, Michelle Tripp, Neil Ellis, and Steve Bilitz.

The Board meeting minutes from the 6/2/25 meeting and the minutes of the 6/14/25 Annual Meeting were read on-line.

MOTION: to approve both minutes. Passed,

Treasurer’s Report: There is $33,374.10 in the checking account, and the CD account has $15, 431.15. There are currently 267 members in the Association. We need the tax form for L and M, and for Menard’s, Rice L., WI to give us tax free status.

MOTION: to approve the Treasurer’s Report. Passed.

Invasive Monitoring Report: Neil and Jeff will get together to pass along info on this network of volunteers.

Town Board Report: Blacktopping and gravel crushing are completed for the season. There was a discussion on the status of the old Tagalder boat launch.

MOTION: NLA opposes work on the boat landing next to the beach near Tagalder Rd. Passed.

Resort Assoc. Report: A new sign is going up on Hwy 63 North just south of town for the Resort Association. T-shirt sales are going on all summer.

Raffle Ticket Sales: Sales have been down a wee bit so far this season. However, we have lots of tickets available.

Tagalder Beach Report: Nothing to report.
Walleye stocking recap for 2025: 9,500 walleye fingerlings were stocked at Ravelle’s, the Small Road access site, and Tagalder boat launch. Total cost was $7,500. Also, 93,000 walleye fry were added to Nelson L. by DNR-Fisheries. They came from the Spooner hatchery.
Raffle Prizes:

MOTION: to send an email to John Welter so he can let all participating Nelson Lake resorts know about the $25 gift certificates awarded at the Annual Picnic. Passed.

New Garage update: Concrete is poured. Delivery of other parts will be done by Aug. 15th. Construction work on the new garage will take place between Aug. 18-22. We need to get a skid steer, and more volunteers for each day’s work. A small noon lunch will be provided for those helping out.

Facebook Page: Discussion on the pros and cons of having our own Facebook Webpage. The NLA Facebook page will no longer be updated because pertinent information is contained on the NLA Webpage. The Facebook page will contain a link to the NLA Webpage so folks can easily get to the NLA Webpage.

August 16 Picnic: Dale passed out the picnic task list for each Board member, listing who will do what that picnic day.
Other business: None.
