Nelson L. Association Board Meeting Minutes, Oct. 6, 2025

The meeting was opened promptly by President Dale McPherson at 6:30 pm.
Members present: Rick Lindner, Gordy Christians, Tom LeMay, Mark Schaenzer, Dale McPherson, Mike Hallum, Glenn Rolloff, Scott Wied, Neil Ellis, and Steve Bilitz.

The Board meeting minutes from Aug. 4, 2025 were read on-line. MOTION: to approve the minutes. Passed.

Treasurer’s Report: There is $ $15, 431 in the Money Market, and the checking account has $10, 037 in it. This gives NLA a grand total of $25, 469. Cost for the Gerlach garage was $22, 517 which was under budget. Both the Lenroot Township and the Nelson L. Resort Assoc, kicked in $5, 000 each, while the NLA has paid $12, 51 for this garage. Picnic food and prizes cost less than the previous year.

Picnic Review: There were 147 people in attendance – the best turn-out in a long time. All the prizes were passed out.

Fall Newsletter: Material for the newsletter has been sent to Kim. The draft will be coming soon.

2025 Scholarship: MOTION: to have a scholarship for 2026 amounting to $1,000. Passed.

Buoy Change-out: The “buoy boys” will meet at Gerlach’s landing on Oct. 8 at 11 am.
CBCW Application: The application has been received by the State. Paperwork will be completed in January, 2026.

Civil Air Patrol Donation: We use their tables and chairs for the picnic. MOTION: to donate $250 for their help. Passed.

Trash on the Big Island beach: There are now 2 sets of chairs at the beach. What is left of the raft has been sitting on shore for a couple years. Ravelle’s Resort has volunteered to remove the raft. Thank you.

Posting NLA meeting date/time on website. The website already lists that NLA Board meetings are every other month starting at 6:30 pm at the Lenroot Township Hall. Any non-Board members will need to contact Steve B. regarding a topic for which they want to discuss at the next meeting.

Grooming Lake Snow trails: There was no snow last winter, so no trails were made. MOTION: to donate up to $500 for grooming trails on the lake. Passed.
Liason Resort Owner’s Association: The resort association will let us know who will be the spokesperson. This will help coordinate items of interest between the resort association and the NLA.

There were 3 NLA board members who heard info on wake boat issues across the State. No regulations are currently in place. We will continue to monitor these boats and any future regulations on the matter.

There has been increases in boat landing inspectors’ wages in our area. MOTION: to increase our boat landing inspectors’ wages from $18 to $20/hour. Passed. This will increase our wage cost by just over $1,000/year.

There was a discussion on Association costs going up on a regular basis. MOTION: to increase the NLA annual dues from $30 to $35/year. Passed.
The meeting was closed at 7:41 pm.
Next Board meeting will be Dec. 1, 2025 at 6:30 pm.
