Nelson Lake Assoc. Board Meeting Minutes, Dec. 2, 2024


The meeting was opened promptly by President Dale McPherson at 6:35 pm.
Members present: Rick Lindner, Gordy Christians, Casey Stangl, Jeff Hanson, Dale McPherson, Glenn Rolloff, Scott Wied, and Steve Bilitz.

Meeting Minutes of 10/7/24 were read and corrected online. MOTION: to approve the minutes, as corrected. Passed.

Treasurer’s Report: There is $8,062 in the checking account, and $29, 251 in the money market account. We currently have 256 members in the association.

FHNB activities: No report.
Winter Rama: it will be held at the Landing on Sat. Jan. 4, 2025 from 12 Noon – 4 pm.
NABA Fishing Event: Jan 16, 2025 at Gerlach’s Landing. We will take care of parking and security.

WFNW Fishing Event: No info at this time. This event may no longer be happening.
2023 Clean Boats Clean Water: In Jan. 2025 we’ll submit a request for 2024 Final Payment. The grant request for 2025 has already been sent in.
Lenroot Township Report: A new clerk has been hired. Cost sharing for the Porky’s culvert is coming soon. The Assessor is also coming to your home soon. The Township plans to purchase a new plow truck this year. Around March 15, 2025 Nelson Lake will be starting to get raised back up.

Scholarship Award: This $1,000 valued award will be given to a student attending a college enrolled in a natural resources or environmental studies program. It will be awarded at the start of the 2nd semester after a report is sent to the Association showing a grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or higher and there is proof of 2nd semester enrollment.
Northern Waters

Environmental School: We will contact them in the middle of Summer, 2025 to discuss a project we might work on together.

Feb. 2025 NLA meeting: We may meet next in April, 2025. More info to come.
NLA/Lenroot Building at Gerlach’s Landing: We are considering building shed for storage at this landing. It would be 24 x 36 ft. and store the NLA pontoon and other misc. items. Cost: about $18 – 20,000. The Lenroot Township and Nelson L. Resort Assoc. will each contribute $5,000 for this project. MOTION: to give up to $10,000 for the Gerlach’s Landing building. Passed.
TV Dotation: The Vet Center in Hayward needs a TV. We could make good use of it. We might make a deal with the Vet Center to waive our annual meeting room cost to help pay for the TV set. MOTION: To ask the Vet Center to purchase a large screen TV set with NLA donating up to $700 to help pay for it. Passed.
